I’m sailing on the Disney Dream in August for a 3 night cruise. I’m wondering if the photo package is worth it? Will there be a lot of pictures and photo opportunities? I loved memory maker in the parks but I’m hesitant to do it for the cruise.

    Welcome aboard, Jennifer!

Congratulations on your upcoming cruise with Disney! I remember the very first time my family and I set sail with Captain Mickey and his crew. We wanted to squeeze every single ounce of magic out of the cruise that we could, so we planned to meet as many of our favorite Disney Characters as possible. We purchased the cruise photo package that included all photos, so we took advantage of every photo opportunity.

Since then, we've sailed many more times with Disney, and I haven't purchased the entire photo package again, but instead just purchased an individual print or two, or a smaller digital package. There are lots of options, Jennifer. If your family is going to be attending lots of the Character Greetings, a photo package would be a good idea. You are allowed to take your own pictures with your camera too, but the professional pictures always turn out way better, with perfect lighting!

Each evening, besides the Character Greeting photo opportunities, there are additional photo spots in the atrium where photographers are set up to capture your family memories. On Pirate Night, there's a special pirate background, and there are some other backgrounds available as well as the iconic photo on the stairs in the atrium that you must have! You're welcome to have your pictures taken there whether you have a photo package or not, and if you just want to purchase one or two, you can do so in Shutters.

If you do want a photo package, you'll save a bit of money pre-purchasing it prior to sailing, so keep that in mind when you plan.

Have such fun and enjoy all the magical memories!
