Hello! I’m running my first Disney 5K in the spring! I’m nervous but so excited to be a part of something so magical! My question is Expo pretty strict? I am coming from the airport, and I will have my luggage with me, wondering if I can bring this in?

    Hi Lisa,

Ahh! Your first (but probably not last) runDisney 5k is coming up! Friend, I am so excited for you already. Whether this will be your first road race or your eleventy-billionth, please know that I am so proud of you. Train healthy and run with your whole heart.

As far as I have experienced, there is no limit for personal items in a runDisney Health and Fitness Expo. With that said, if you have the chance to swing by your Walt Disney World Resort hotel to drop off your luggage with the friendly Cast Members at Bell Services, you might find your experience at the Expo to be much more enjoyable. You might not want to lug your suitcase around as you shop all of the latest running gear and gadgets, limited-edition runDisney merchandise, and cool new recovery tools.

There are a few things that I love to share with first-time runDisney runners:

runDisney is constantly creating new experiences, so this could change, but one stop that I have always made in the past and encourage you to make if it is available in the Spring is at the Disney Vacation Club booth. They usually have a pretty special contest at a runDisney Health and Fitness Expo, and I wouldn't want you to miss it!

When you pick up your official runDisney race bib and shirt, it will be given to you in a clear plastic bag. You can use this on race morning to store anything that you do not want to bring with you on the course but might like immediately after the race. For example, I always pack a pair of flip-flops in my bag. That feeling when you complete a feat and then release the feet from their restrictive sneakers is just about second to none! Try it. You will be glad you did.

Finally, cheering at a runDisney race is just as much fun as running it...without the recovery. If you have a chance to make it out to the sidelines for the other runDisney Springtime Surprise Events, I can't encourage you enough to do it. The boost of energy that I get from watching other people crush their goals is indescribable. Give out fist bumps and cheer until the last participant crosses the finish line. You might just find that it encouraged you the most.

Alright, Lisa, I hope that answers your question. Please let us know if you think of any others between now and your big day. Until then, enjoy every magical mile! We are cheering for you.

    Adventure is out there,

    Sally
