Hi there, Chris!
This question holds such a special place in my heart. You see, my husband and I are have been married going on a decade now, and he proposed to me during the Wishes fireworks spectacular many many years ago.
While we did not have a photographer around to capture the magical moment, I so wish we did. This is why I am so excited to help you make your proposal even more memorable.
The first option that you have will be to snag a
PhotoPass Photographer for this special moment. You can simply wait in line as normal and drop to one knee when it is your turn. PhotoPass Photographers can be a little hard to find during the fireworks show itself; and the picture may be a little dark with all the lights turned down in the park.
Chris, to get a little more personalized attention, have you heard about the
Capture Your Moment experience? For just $50, you can reserve 20-minutes with a PhotoPass Photographer. Please note that prices are subject to change. I feel like this would be a great, not too expensive option to get a ton of magical shots. As an added bonus, these photographers often know where the less-crowded and most Instagram-worthy spots are. One of my friends was proposed to in just this way, in front of the Wishing Well, which offers a stunning view of Cinderella Castle in a little more private setting. As a woman, I recommend that if you are not waiting until the fireworks to propose, you may want to pop the question as early in the day as possible, so that her hair has not yet been destroyed by the Florida humidity.
If you are looking for a splurge, I recommend that you surprise your soon-to-be fiancé with a special Fireworks viewing experience. In my experience, the two most romantic experiences would be a private
Fireworks Cruise or a reservation at
Celebration at the Top at Disney's Contemporary Resort.
The advantage that both of these settings have is that they are a little more private, and they take place out of the park, allowing you two to head back to your resort and freshen up before the big moment. While neither of these experiences comes with a photographer, I am sure that you could hand your phone to someone present who would be more than happy to be a part of making a little magic.
Chris, one thing that my husband did was to stop by one of the shops on Main Street, U.S.A. to get two complimentary "Happily Ever After" buttons with our name and the date. Right after the ring was on my finger, he pulled out the buttons that we wore for the rest of our trip announcing to all the world that we had just gotten engaged. It was so fun to hear all of the "Congratulations" throughout the park.
Congratulations, Chris! I can tell that your soon-to-be fiancé is a very lucky woman!
