I'm a Poly fan, but my family would like to try other Resorts. They're thinking Wilderness Lodge. So tell me, why should I consider staying there? What makes it a top pick? What does it have over the Poly? BTW, it will take a lot to change my mind :)

Hey, Krista!  I love both of these resorts, so I can go on and on about why I would stay at either resort.  Have you got a few hours? Go get coffee, I'll wait!

You already know about the charms of the Polynesian, so I'll focus on the Wilderness Lodge.  This is like a vacation in a vacation.  You can enjoy the warmth of the tropical Florida environment, then go back to your resort, and feel like you've been transported to a lodge in the Pacific Northwest.  The rustic feel of the resort gives you the feeling that you might see a bear out your window or go trout fishing in a babbling brook.

If you are there in the winter, pull up a rocking chair to the roaring fire, and enjoy a nightcap or a morning coffee.  You feel like you're in a cabin in Yellowstone from the time you hear your first crickets, walking into the lobby.

The pool very much keeps the national park theme, and there is a waterslide and kid's pool.  You might also rent bikes to ride through the property.

There are two great table service restaurants at the resort.  Whispering Canyon Cafe is a rowdy, fun dining experience for the whole family, and Artist Point is a signature dining experience for a lovely, upscale meal.

I think it's well worth a try at least once.  It's so different from the Polynesian, but beautiful and rustic.  It's a wonderful place to get the best of two totally different vacations!
