Hi, I’m planning on visiting Blizzard Beach in March 2024 but My Disney Experience app is telling me Blizzard Beach is closed after February 25, 2024. Is this true?

Hello, Heidi, thank you for visiting us here at planDisney! The temperatures at the Walt Disney World Resort in March are ideal for cooling off at your Disney Resort Collection hotel pool or to spend some time at one of the two awesome water parks, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach.

Historically, there has always been at least one of the two water parks open for Guests to enjoy unless there are extreme weather conditions. However, I took a look at the My Disney Experience app and did some searching online and can confirm that I am seeing what you are seeing, the hours for both water parks are listed as “Closed” beginning on February 25th. I spoke to a friendly Cast Member who confirmed that both water parks are indeed scheduled to be closed on that date, with no scheduled opening date at this time. Since you aren’t traveling until March, you should keep checking your app to see when opening dates and times are announced.

If you haven’t purchased your Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets for your visit yet, I would recommend purchasing either the 1 Park Per Day or tickets with the Park Hopper Option. If the water parks open back up before your visit, you can always upgrade to the Water Park and Sports Option or the Park Hopper Plus Option.

If you have already purchased tickets and have selected the Water Park and Sports or Park Hopper Plus options, I would suggest monitoring the operating status of the water parks in your app. If it doesn’t appear they will be open during your stay and you don’t plan on taking advantage of miniature golf or the ESPN Wide World of Sports, the Cast Member I spoke to suggested contacting Guest Relations before your arrival to see if the options can be removed from your ticket. If you wait until your arrival, you can always visit Guest Relations at Disney Springs or at the entrance to the theme parks to speak to a Cast Member in person but make sure you haven’t used your tickets yet. All tickets and options are nontransferable and nonrefundable, but you never know what magic a Cast Member can make!

I hope Disney’s Blizzard Beach is open during your visit, Heidi, it is my favorite of the two water parks too! It doesn’t get much better than riding Summit Plummet and following it up with an ice-cold Piña CoLAVA from the Polar Pub!
