Welcome back to planDisney, Elissa!
We are so happy you stopped by on your way to the Happiest Place on Earth. I hope you are able to make it to the parks this weekend. With Halloween Time kicking off this Friday, August 22nd, it is a fabulous time to experience all the happy haunts, limited-time foodie treats, seasonal entertainment, and, of course, Jack Skellington's takeover of Haunted Mansion Holiday!
I'm glad you asked this question ahead of purchasing your ticket, so you have all the information in front of you to make a decision.
Theme park tickets are non-refundable, but they generally have a long runway before the expiration date. One-Day tickets purchased today do not expire until December 30, 2026, while multi-day tickets must be used within 13 days of first use or by January 12, 2027, whichever comes first. That means you have over a year to reschedule your visit if your plans change for this weekend! Additionally, the magic never fully runs out. Even if you reach the expiration date, you can put the value of a wholly unused ticket towards the purchase of a new ticket of equal or greater value by calling the
Guest Services team.
Guests are required to have both a theme park ticket and a theme park reservation to scan through the Main Entrance Gates. When you purchase your theme park ticket on the Disneyland website, you will also be asked to select a date and choose which park you will be visiting that day, either Disneyland Park or California Adventure Park. Once the purchase is complete, this will become your theme park reservation, so no extra steps are required. If you do purchase a ticket and make a reservation, but your plans change, no problem. You can update and modify your reservation date easily in the Disneyland app by tapping the "+" in the bottom navigation bar and selecting "Make a Park Reservation".
One thing to note is that One Day park tickets fall into tiers, which determine the price for the ticket. Busy times will land in Tier 6, while less busy times will land in Tier 0. This will only be something to note if you do need to change the date of your reservation. In the event that the new date falls in a higher tier, you will likely need to pay the difference in cost between your current ticket and the new ticket. If it is the same tier or lower, you are all set. Again, this can be done with just a few taps in the app by tapping the three-line icon in the bottom right-hand corner and selecting "My Tickets and Passes". Underneath your ticket, choose "Change Ticket" and follow the instructions from there to update your reservation. This will prompt you to any price difference that you can pay directly in the app itself.
Are you still with me, Elissa? I know that was a lot to process, but I guarantee that once you are in the app, it becomes very intuitive. If you can head to the parks this weekend, I highly recommend taking a read through the
Disney Parks Halloween Time Foodie Guide to earmark a few must-try treats. There is SO much to choose from this year! I'm adding the Iced Pumpkin Chai Latte from Bengal Barbeque and the Cherry Cobbler Funnel Cake Fries from Hungry Bear to my list!
