I'm planning to visit Disney with my family in August 26 to Sep 4, 2009 . This is my 2nd trip to WDW but for my husband and my 2 kids, 6 year old and 15 year old will be the 1st, want to know about weather, what to wear, crowds, water parks closing.

Hi, Maria Elizabeth!  Late August is one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World.  Well, any time is my favorite time, but we almost always find ourselves at the theme parks at the end of August!

I can describe the late August weather for you in two words.  Hot and Humid!  This is still the Florida summer, and you can expect temperatures in the low 90s during the day, with not too much cooling off at night.  Typically, there will be a period of a brief afternoon shower nearly every day, which adds a little steam to the afternoon!

I find that late August crowds can be surprisingly light.  Many southern US schools and colleges nationwide are back in session that week, and I think that helps minimize the crowds.  Your last day there starts Labor Day weekend, so if you are spending the full day there, you may see a bit of an increase in traffic.

Dress in light, breathable fabrics, and I suggest a hat or visor to keep the sun off of your head and face.  Don't forget the sunscreen!

I do not have any information at this time on water parks being closed during your trip.

Have a wonderful vacation, and thank you for your question to the Moms Panel!
