Welcome back to planDisney, Eric! April is a fantastic time to visit the
Disneyland Resort, especially if you’re hoping to catch a mix of classic attractions and limited-time experiences. It’s also a meaningful month for my family (my wife and I celebrate our anniversary in April), so I completely understand wanting to make the most of everything that might be available during your visit.
While Disney doesn’t share specific timelines for how long it takes to switch attractions like
Space Mountain into
Hyperspace Mountain or
Soarin’ Around the World into
Soarin’ Over California, they do provide seasonal windows that give us a great sense of what may be on the horizon. These windows are often tied to festivals, celebrations, and special events, which can make months like April feel especially dynamic.
For Space Mountain fans, late April is particularly exciting. Hyperspace Mountain is scheduled to return beginning April 28, transforming
Tomorrowland into a galactic launch point. If you’re visiting around that timeframe, you may find yourself trading the familiar spaceflight soundtrack for an epic Star Wars adventure, complete with dramatic visuals and John Williams’ iconic score echoing through the mountain.
Over at
Disney California Adventure, Soarin’ Over California typically returns for a limited engagement alongside the
Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, which is scheduled to run from March 6 through April 27. This fan-favorite version is a nostalgic journey across the Golden State, and its availability during the festival makes it a wonderful complement to a day spent sampling California-inspired cuisine and beverages throughout the park.
Adding even more excitement to the mix are the
Star Wars Nite After Hours events, which take place on select evenings in April and May. One of the April event dates falls on April 28, with another iconic date landing on May 4. These separately ticketed evenings offer themed entertainment, character encounters, special photo opportunities, event-exclusive merchandise, and the chance to experience select attractions with shorter waits. For Star Wars fans, it’s an immersive way to celebrate the saga long after the suns set over Batuu.
As your trip approaches, I recommend keeping a close eye on the Disney Parks Blog and the Disneyland app for the most up-to-date information on entertainment offerings, attraction schedules, and event announcements.
Eric, I hope this gives you a clearer picture of what you might experience during your April visit and helps you get excited about what could be waiting just around the corner. If you’d like help deciding which dates might best match your interests, or if you have more questions as your plans come together, please feel free to visit us again here at planDisney.
Wishing you a visit filled with high-flying views, hyperspace adventures, and plenty of unforgettable Disney moments!
