HI, I'm planning a trip to Disney World in May with my wife and are looking to stay at either the Polynesian Resort or the Contemporary Resort. but need a room with a roll in shower. Any suggertion which one is better to stay at?

    Hi Michael,

Both the Contemporary and the Polynesian have handicap accessible rooms equipped with roll-in showers.  There are, however, a limited number of these rooms available, so I encourage you to reserve your room as early as possible.

From a location and accessibility standpoint, the Polynesian and the Contemporary are quite similar. Both have monorail access to the Magic Kingdom and include deluxe amenities. Generally, I would just encourage you to stay at whichever has the themeing that you most enjoy. However, given your mobility needs I have two comments:

    - The rooms at the Polynesian are all in out buildings, not in the main lodge. These means that you'll have a wee bit of trek to get to the restaurants and transportation.

    - There are also out buildings at the Contemporary, but there many rooms in the main building as well. This means that in inclement weather you would not need to go outside to go to a restaurant.

    - At the Contemporary, you would need to make a monorail transfer to get to Epcot. One monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center, then a second to Epcot. The Polynesian is a quick walk to the TTC, so you would be able to board the monorail there without having the transfer.

Personally, I'd choose the Contemporary Main Building, but I think most folks like the theme better at the Poly. But truly, they are both great hotels. You can't go wrong with either one.
