I'm planning my second WDW trip around running a half in 2019. How far in advance can you register for races/book the hotel? Are the amount of visitors to the parks much higher around these events? What events are there for runners post race?

    Hi Krystal!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I love that you are such a planner and looking far in advance to book the perfect runcation for yourself!

The runDisney weekends at Walt Disney World are currently opening roughly 11 months in advance. Your best bet is to sign up for the runDisney email notifications and keep an eye on the website to see when registration will open. The date is usually posted at least a month prior to it opening for registration. You can book a room only reservation 500 days in advance by phone. You can either call the Walt Disney World hotel reservation line at 407-939-1936 or the runDisney travel line at 407-939-iRun. Online booking and packages for 2019 will not open until summer time 2018. If you'd like to rebook a package at that time or a promotion runs at a later date, you can always cancel your initial reservation.

For post run events, the only runDisney weekend that has a formal post run celebration is Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, where you'll be able to experience the Post-Race Party. Other than this, you won't find an organized runDisney post race event, but your in Walt Disney World Resort so your options are truly endless.

Please let me know if you have any other questions in planning your trip!
