I'm planning a Sat thru Tues trip with my 1 year old in late Sept. We're staying at the Grand Floridian. Any advice on room type we should pick, which character meals to attend and when, attractions he would enjoy, etc? Thanks!

Hi, Sarah!  I love the Grand Floridian!

I don't think you can go wrong with any room at the Grand Floridian, so which to choose comes down to personal preference and budget.  My favorite rooms have views of the Magic Kingdom, and I love being able to relax in my room and watch the fireworks as if it were my own personal show.  I usually get some snacks or dessert for the kids, and it's a great way to end our evening.  I also love the dormer rooms.  They are a little bit smaller, but they feel so grand, thanks to their high ceilings.

As for character meals, decide if your little prince would be afraid of the fully costumed characters (like Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh.  He might do better with characters that looked more like people he is familiar with. Chef Mickey's is a very popular character meal for breakfast and dinner, as is the Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom.  One features Mickey Mouse and friends, the other Pooh and friends.  A meal at Cinderella's Royal Table or the Princess Storybook meals in Norway are human characters, so you may find your son is less afraid of them.

I took my girls on everything when we went to Walt Disney World when they were small.  Whatever didn't have a height restriction, we did.  I love their reaction from attractions like It's a Small World and the Enchanted Tiki room; and they loved things like the Dumbo attraction or Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride.  I think music is great for kids this age also, so check out Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney Junior Live as well.

Have a wonderful trip with your wonderful little boy!
