    I'm planning for runDisney Marathon wknd next year (2018). Because races start at Epcot I'm looking at resorts where you can reach Epcot by walking. Where at Epcot do races begin (front gate, etc)? Would I be able to reach by walking from resort?

    Hi Meredith,

    Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm hoping to run in the Walt Disney World Marathon in 2018 as well for the 25th Anniversary! Traditionally, the race starts behind the Epcot Parking Lot and finishes within it.

    Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Yacht Club Resort, and Disney's BoardWalk Inn are all walking distance to Epcot, but the park access is through the International Gateway near France in the World Showcase. This does not open early for runDisney events though and bus transportation is still required for the race.

    Your best bet would be to stay on the Resort Monorail line! The morning of the race you would take the Resort Monorail from either Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or Disney's Polynesian Village Resort to the Transportation and Ticket Center. From here you would get on the Epcot line where you'll be dropped off directly at the front gate.
