Hi there Adam, I’m thrilled to welcome you to planDisney as you prepare to pop the question!
Now when it comes to planning
a surprise Disney proposal, my husband and I actually secretly planned on doing this for each other at two different times of the year - and I think Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is such an excellent setting to do it! You’ll be happy to hear that
getting engaged at Walt Disney World Resort and in
Magic Kingdom Park is certainly not against the rules (and there are thankfully no bans in place on proposals) - just as long as you’re doing this safely, and not in any restricted Cast Member-only locations. Though there currently aren't any proposal packages that you can purchase at Walt Disney World Resort,
Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings has a number of suggestions in the
Enchanting Extras Collection that you can book on your own!
From a fellow secret proposal planner-turned-Disney Groom here are a few of my ideas for ways to make that moment extra special:
- As far as Character Experiences go, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a great opportunity for you both to meet many throughout the evening to celebrate your engagement - and though there currently isn't an option for party guests to book them for something like a private meet and greet, I recommend heading to visit some iconic Disney couples to show them the engagement ring or perhaps ask them for wedding advice to hear what they've got to say! Last year Tiana and Naveen could be found over by the Liberty Square Riverboat, Ariel and Eric stood outside Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid while others such as Cinderella and Prince Charming, Rapunzel and Flynn (Eugene Fitzherbert) as well as Snow White and her Prince alternated appearances through the night near Pinocchio Village Haus. (If you're the kind of couple that's keen on meeting Sally and Jack Skellington, be prepared for a lengthy line over at Town Square Theater if you don't pop the question early and head there first!)
- I often recommend looking into booking a Capture Your Moment session where the Cast Members can help you with the proposal and make sure they snap photos of the moment, but the timing would have to perfectly align with when you're able to enter Magic Kingdom Park for the party after 4:00 P.M. Another option would be to pop the question during fireworks by booking Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Dessert Party which provides you with access to a reserved Plaza Garden space where other fellow proposers in the past have gotten down on one knee!
Hope there give you a little bit of engagement inspiration, but don't hesitate to
come back again to ask for any additional insight - I'm always happy to help with more ideas!
Here's to reaching out and finding your Happily Ever After!
