Hi! I’m planning a proposal at one of the resort lakes. We are going to stay at All Stars. Would it be okay if we set up a few small battery-powered lights near the lake for ambiance? Just us and our moms. We will keep it respectful and clean up after.

Hi Manuel, and welcome to planDisney! I’d be honored to help figure out what’s possible for your special proposal. There's no better place to do it than at the Most Magical Place on Earth!

I checked the Disney World Resort Property Rules and chatted with a Cast Member to be absolutely sure. There isn’t anything that says battery-powered lights are prohibited, as long as you’re not obstructing walkways, engaging in any unapproved commercial activities, or being disruptive. While it’s ultimately up to the Cast Members to make that determination, it sounds like you’ll be okay if you're respectful of others.

One of my favorite Disney Resort hotel waterfronts is Crescent Lake near the EPCOT area resorts. The sandy spot outside Beach Club Resort, right by the water, would be a nice spot to propose!

Since you’re drawn to the water like Moana, here are some other ideas for the special moment. If you’re up for a bit of adventure, you can rent a pontoon boat and pop the question right on Crescent Lake or Seven Seas Lagoon! These rentals are only available during daytime hours, so if you’re set on doing this in the evening, I have a different idea, although it’s much more of a splurge. If it’s in your budget, the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Fireworks Cruises are a great way to celebrate something special. A Cast Member will pick you and your family up at the Contemporary or Yacht & Beach Club Resort marina and sail across the water to the perfect spot to watch one of the nighttime spectaculars! My brother-in-law proposed to my sister during Happily Ever After and the fireworks made it extra magical.

Whichever option you choose, be sure to pick up complimentary I’m Celebrating or Happily Ever After buttons to commemorate the occasion! You can usually get them at your resort hotel’s front desk or many of the gift shops. They’re a fun way to continue the celebration throughout your trip and also make a great souvenir to take home. I like to glue a magnet on the back to display the buttons on my fridge. They always bring back happy memories!

I’m wishing you a magical beginning to your happily ever after! And if you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
