Hi there Shanea,
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for dropping by with your Disneyland planning question today. We love to help guests arrange all the practically perfect details for their magical vacation!
I believe what you are seeing when trying to book your short-but-oh-so-exciting stay at a
Disneyland Good Neighbor hotel is that the Disneyland site sells these as vacation packages. And with a vacation package - yes, you are required to purchase a minimum of a 2-day park ticket. However, there's a workaround! If you have decided on which Good Neighbor hotel you'd like to stay at, simply book your 2 night stay directly with them. These are third party hotels, so you may even be able to find a discount offered directly on the hotel's website, or by using loyalty or credit card rewards. Then you can just
purchase the 1-day park ticket from the Disneyland website that works best for your trip.
When you select your park ticket dates on the purchase calendar, you'll see the tickets are date-based and have varying prices. Tickets are non-refundable, but if your plans change and you need to change the date of your park ticket... you'll be able to do that. If your new date is a higher priced tier, the amount you paid for your (unused) ticket may be applied towards the new ticket. You'll just pay any difference, if needed.
Shanea, the wonderful
70th Anniversary Celebration at Disneyland has me wishing on a star that I could road trip to California soon to check it all out. I'm so excited for you! You'll be there right in the ta-dah nick of time for the kick-off of all the festivities. It looks so spectacular, please promise me you won't miss experiencing the Paint the Night parade!
I hope this helps you fine-tune your Disneyland reservation plans. Sending you loads of pixie-dust to have a wonderful visit! Please visit us again at planDisney if we can answer any other questions.
See ya' real soon!
Tami
