I’m planning our next trip to WDW but I would like to know when the cheerleading competitions typically take place, I would like to avoid them at all costs! TIA

Hey there! Hi there! Ho there Amanda! You’re as welcome as can be at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! If you are planning a vacation to Walt Disney World from early December through May, be ready to be surrounded by the chEARs of some great athletes! Dance, Cheer, and sports competitions take up almost half the year at The World so more likely than not, you will encounter a few competition groups, but there are plenty of Walt Disney World Resort options for you to have a peaceful stay.

Most of the competitions happen at ESPN Wide World of Sports, and most of the athletes tend to stay in Disney Value Resorts. The most popular Resorts tend to be Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, and Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a convention hotel, so it is often used for large groups also.

When you visit, stay at either a Moderate Resort or a Deluxe Resort Hotel. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is tranquil and has our family favorite - Nashville Hot Chicken at Boatwright’s Dining Hall. After dinner, head outside to the Riverside Levee Marina and take a leisurely horse-drawn carriage around the lush Resort property. For an extra-special stay, Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the ultimate in modern convenience - the Monorail runs straight through the Resort, and it is a five-minute walk to Magic Kingdom Park.

Amanda, I hope this helps you plan your upcoming trip. ChEARs to a fabulous vacation!
