Hi, I'm planning my first trip to Disney; with a very picky teenager! We have the Dining Plan, but can I use a Dining Plan credit for myself and just pay for a side dish for my teenager if there is nothing on the menu they will eat? (except fries!)

Hi there, Marion! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We appreciate you taking the time to reach out and ask your Walt Disney World Resort question!

Walt Disney World Resort is the top vacation destination for the entire family including teenagers! Regardless of how picky your teen is, they will certainly be able to find things they enjoy during your vacation! There are activities for every type of interest including spa and salon lovers, animal enthusiasts, picky foodies, and more.

It can be a bit difficult to feel as though you are getting the full value when using the Disney Dining Plan with a picky eater, though! You are certainly welcome to use your own meal credits to purchase your meal and also pay for your child’s meal during a single dining experience. However, you will need to make two separate “purchases” since you won’t be able to split a payment between your Disney Dining Plan credits and another payment source. I would also recommend asking your server if your teen can order off the kid’s menu during your dining experience. This is sometimes an option depending on the dining service location!

Finally, if your child loves fries as much as I do, I would suggest making a special stop at Disney Springs and ordering from The Daily Poutine! This quick-service location has some of the best fries at Walt Disney World Resort so I always make a point of stopping there during each vacation I take!

I hope this information helps you with planning a trip for you and your teen!
