Jann, thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I love brain teasers, and sometimes picking that perfect date for your Walt Disney World vacation is like playing a game of logic and strategy. So get out your calendar, and let's start planning!
The great thing about traveling in the spring is the weather is ideal, with sunny skies and mild temperatures. Coming from the snowy Northeast, I always look forward to seeing the beautiful blossoms and topiaries during the
Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. This year's event ran from March 6 - June 3, so your visit will be during a perfect time!
As you noted in your question, there are also several cheerleading and dance competitions scheduled during this time. The main ones to be aware of in 2020 are:
*Contest of Champions National Dance Competition: February 28-March 1
*UCA International All Star Championship: March 14-15
*The Summit: April 30-May 3
*The D2 Summit: May 8-10
*The Pop Warner Super Bowl is usually held the first week of December
These competitions don't usually affect the theme parks crowd levels much, but you will see more activity at the resorts they stay at which are typically
Disney's All-Star Resorts,
Disney's Pop Century Resort, and
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.
However, there are a couple of events that may impact theme park crowds. April 5-12 is when most U.S. schools will have their Spring Break, and some Guests traveling during this time will start arriving on April 3. Also of note is
Star Wars Rival Run Weekend, which is held April 16-19.
I hope this helps, Jann, but remember, there's never a wrong time to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth! Happy planning!
