Ahoy, Cindy! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question. I’m so excited to hear that you’re heading to “The Land of the Midnight Sun” next summer! This itinerary is on my own bucket list, and when I drove through Vancouver this past summer, I actually saw the
Disney Wonder docked, and it made me want to book an Alaska cruise on the spot.
I chatted with a Disney Cruise Line Cast Member today, and because your sailing is still a few months away, they aren’t showing the official Themed Nights just yet. You can always check back as the date gets closer. In the meantime, based on previous 7-night Alaska itineraries, here’s what you can most likely expect:
Instead of the traditional Pirate Night, Alaska sailings get a Frozen-inspired celebration called
Freezing the Night Away. Guests typically enjoy a Nordic-themed dinner, special character appearances, and a festive deck party. The exact night can vary, but it’s often scheduled around the glacier viewing day, which makes it even more magical.
You can also expect mostly Casual dress in the dining rooms, with the exception of Night 2 (Formal Night) and Night 5 (Semi-Formal Night). These dress suggestions are totally optional, so feel free to theme your nights however you’d like! For the most accurate schedule once you’re onboard, the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app will be your best friend.
You are going to love the character outfits on this itinerary. Alaska cruises feature special costumes you can’t find anywhere else. Guests sailing this itinerary always love the ones taken on glacier day with Mickey and Minnie in their adorable cold-weather gear. Goofy, Donald, and Daisy get in on the fun too! Sometimes Goofy even shows up in a lumberjack outfit for the Ketchikan day, which is just priceless. When my friend
Samantha did this sailing, she packed cute flannels and Mickey/Minnie winter ear hats for family photos, and they turned out absolutely perfect.
Also, planDisney’s number one Alaska packing tip is layers, layers, layers. The weather can change quickly, so being able to add a sweatshirt or peel off a jacket is essential. Disney Cruise Line also has a helpful
Alaska packing list that you may find helpful.
Cindy, I hope this gives you a great starting point as you plan your themed outfits!
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
