Hi Staci,
Welcome back to planDisney! Isn't it fun just having a trip to look forward to and dream about? Thinking about escaping to sunny Florida and
The Most Magical Place on Earth is always a way to brighten up a day!
The interesting thing about your question is that I'm not sure anyone knows for
sure what crowd levels will be like then. We're still in the unprecedented COVID-19 era, and this will be Walt Disney World Resort's first Memorial Day weekend since reopening. Here's what we do know, though...Disney has made several
changes to keep Guests and Cast Members safe, including capping theme park attendance to be able to promote physical distancing. While that is subject to change, I think it's safe to assume that attendance will still be limited in May and June. Typically, Memorial Day weekend crowds are a bit heavier than other days in May, and I do think you'll see crowds pick up, especially at EPCOT, which is larger and can accommodate more Guests safely. Will Memorial Day weekend crowds be heavier than June crowds, though? While I can't know for sure, I personally think they'll be pretty comparable. Several third party sites offer crowd calendars to try to help Guests predict what attendance will be like, so you may want to do an internet search for some of those. I'd also encourage you to check Disney's
tickets' page. Because tickets are priced higher during peak periods and lower during slower seasons, seeing how they're pricing tickets each day can provide a glimpse as to what Disney expects crowds to be like. You could also keep an eye on the
availability calendar, as that will let you know if any theme parks reach capacity on any individual day. I just checked, and both timeframes you're considering are still wide open.
The great news for you is that whether you keep your May trip as planned or move it to early June, you'll be able to enjoy the
Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. Between the gorgeous blooms, spectacular topiaries, scrumptious dishes at all of the outdoor kitchens, and fun entertainment, you'll LOVE it!
I really don't think you'll go wrong with either option, Staci!
Whenever you decide to visit, I hope you have a truly magical vacation! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney, and please come back and see us again with any other questions you may have!
