    I'm planning to bring my DD (6) for her first visit to WDW Feb 5-11 '14, and would like to know if we'll miss out on any fireworks, shows, characters by coming then? I've chosen early Feb in order to have lighter crowds, to maximize our time. Thanks!

    Angie,

    While it is true that in the slower times of the year they scale back some show times a bit, I don't think you will have to worry about missing out.

    I actually think your reasoning to come in February to avoid the larger crowds will prove to be the best decision you make. What you will need to do is just plan out what park you go to on what day to ensure that you are at a particular park on a night when they are hosting fireworks. I have only once had a time where my planning hit a road bump and we missed a show. A pretty good track record, really.

    Here are some suggestions;

    • When the park schedules for February come out, just before you have to make your dining reservations, you will want to map out what park you go to on what day. I can help with that! Just write me back when those dates are up.
    • With a younger child like yours (and mine), I like to plan a night out for fireworks to be followed by a morning where you don't have a planned breakfast, so that they can sleep in. That should keep their batteries recharged.
    • With characters, make sure you have My Disney Experience on your smartphone. It will tell you who is where in live time!
    Write me back if you have any other follow-up questions.

    Have a magical vacation!
