I'm not staying on disney properties and plan to drive to the parks. I am taking my 10 year old granddaughter and want to plan the week. SHe loves the rides, the water parks and adventure. What parks do you suggest and what is my cheapest way

    Hello, Jacqueline!

Grandparent and grandchild trips are pure magic! It’s wonderful that you’re planning with your granddaughter in mind. If I had a week with my grandson and wanted to be mindful of costs, here’s how I would plan our adventure:

    Day 1: Animal Kingdom
This is my personal favorite park! For thrills, don’t miss Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest. The Kilimanjaro Safari is an unforgettable adventure, and the shows Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue...and Beyond! are absolutely worth your time.

    Day 2: EPCOT
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is so incredible that it’s worth both the ticket price and a Lightning Lane Single Pass! Other must-dos include Soarin' Around the World, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, and if she loves Frozen, the enchanting Frozen Ever After.

Day 3: Blizzard Beach Water Park
A perfect day of relaxation and fun! I could easily spend all day drifting between the wave pool and the lazy river.

    Day 4: Hollywood Studios
For thrills, nothing beats The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror! You’ll also find adventure in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and endless fun in Toy Story Land.

    Day 5: Magic Kingdom
When most people think of Disney World, they picture Cinderella Castle, and for good reason! This park is home to beloved classics like Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean, along with exciting new rides like TRON Lightcycle / Run.

    Money-Saving Tips:
To keep costs down, this itinerary doesn’t include Park Hopper tickets. Arriving before the parks open lets you experience the most popular attractions with shorter wait times. If early mornings aren’t your thing, investing in Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be a game-changer. Another budget-friendly tip: bring your own snacks and water bottles to save on in-park food expenses. And from one Nana to another, set souvenir ground rules! We like to give our grandson a gift card, which makes him feel in control of his spending while avoiding endless debates over what to buy.

I hope this helps spark some excitement for your trip! Take some time with your granddaughter to explore the Walt Disney World website and narrow down your must-dos. There’s so much to see and do, you simply can’t fit it all into one visit, but that just means another adventure awaits in the future!

Wishing you a trip filled with laughter, love, and plenty of Disney magic!
