I'm new to the resort area, as a mom of a 6 year old girl, would you recommend the mermaid room at the art of animation or what other options for that age group would you suggest?

Hi Marissa! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I have a daughter myself so I went straight to the source and asked what her favorite Resorts to stay at are. I'm happy to share her answers with you, hoping they will help you make a decision on a fabulous Disney Resort hotel to vacation at with your princess.

Little Mermaid rooms at Disney's Art of Animation Resort are not only amazing, but affordable. This Resort is considered a Value Resort and the kindest on the pocket books. Don't worry you won't lose out on WOW factor just because the Resort is considered Value;  the the theming is out of this world. Larger than life characters can be found throughout the Resort.  My children would spend hours just running around exploring the grounds, it is that cool. Rooms would contain 2 full sized beds, and the bathroom area will have a single vanity. If you're looking for a little more space I suggest you consider a moderate Resort hotel.

Another option I would suggest would be the Royal Rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside. These rooms are considered Moderate, and would be a little larger than the rooms at a Value Resort. Each Royal Room has been decorated by Tiana herself, with help from her Princess friends. My daughter adores these rooms and often asks when we can stay in one again. Each room would contain 2 queen sized beds, and the bathroom area would be a little larger and contain a double vanity.I love this because it makes getting ready in the morning with the entire family a little easier.

Marissa, no matter which Resort you choose you will not be disappointed. Every Resort at Walt Disney World is so much fun.I encourage you to check out the website for each Resort and choose the one that appeals to you the most.
