Howdy there, Jessica!
Welcome to planDisney and we're so happy that you came by with your question! Congratulations on being a Magic Key Holder! I've had my
Magic Key for a couple of years now and have been extremely happy with the benefits and specials that it has given me. In fact, I check the Magic Key Portal in the
Disneyland Mobile App every time I enter the Parks to see if there are any new offers for Magic Key Holders. I've gotten some neat souvenirs that way!
I was able to chat with a Cast Member about your question, Jessica. At this time, there is no way to apply the cost of an unused ticket towards a Magic Key renewal. You are, however, allowed to
upgrade the ticket and apply its cost towards the purchase of a new and available
Magic Key Pass, which at this time is the Inspire Key Pass. You are allowed to have multiple Magic Keys linked to your account, so the Cast Member suggested just purchasing a new Key for yourself during the renewal period.
Another option is to hold on to the ticket because Disneyland Resort Theme Park Tickets generally have long shelf lives. Per the
Terms and Conditions, even the cost of an expired, wholly unused ticket may be applied towards the purchase of a new ticket of equal or greater value. You never know when you might need a spare ticket. In fact, I've known Magic Key Holders who purchase tickets for themselves when they want to visit on a blockout date.
Have you been able to visit the
Magic Key Terrace in Disney California Adventure yet? I've fallen in love with their House-made Churros and get them every chance I get! They've become one of my favorite desserts in both Parks!
I hope that answer was helpful for you, Jessica. It might not have been what you were hoping, but I wanted to try and provide some options. Please feel free to visit us again at planDisney if you ever need anything else and enjoy that Magic Key!
Have a Magical Day!
