I'm looking for your top things that you "must do" when staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We've been told it is a vacation inside a vacation so I want to make sure we don't miss anything. We have 6 kids ages 5-19 and a set of grandparents with u

    Hey Kathleen!

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is definitely a destination of its own. For my family, a practically perfect Disney day at the Animal Kingdom Lodge includes sleeping in after a late night at the theme parks. Once we wipe the pixie dust from our eyes we order room service for breakfast which we enjoy on our verandah. With a Savannah View room you will be able to watch giraffes, zebras, gazelles and ostriches roaming around while you eat.

After breakfast it's time for a mid-morning tour of the lobby where you will find many different works of African art, authentic decorations and don't forget to be on the lookout for Hidden Mickeys. (HINT: Look up) On the floor below the lobby there are African drums which the little ones can play to their heart's content. Make sure to stop by the front desk for a listing of all the events taking place throughout the day such as flamingo feeding, cookie decorating, wildlife games and animal tracking. From the lobby you can get an up close and personal view of some of the savannah animals on the Arusha Rock Overlook.

While my mom always says you can't swim after you eat, the Uzima pool is located right beside The Mara quick service lunch location, so take advantage the proximity and spend your afternoon at the pool after lunch at The Mara.

For evening activities, dinner Boma is an excellent choice as its buffet has items all the members of your family will enjoy. After dark stop by the lobby yet again to get a unique animal viewing experience as night vision goggles are available. After tucking in the kiddos, the adults can head to Victoria Falls for a nightcap before getting to bed early to rest up for another practically perfect Disney day.

Wishing you a *MAGICAL* vacation and a pixie-dusted day!
