Hi there, Elliott!
I believe
Walt Disney World does an excellent job at making sure your trip is magical even if you have health issues. We have always found everyone to be so helpful with health issues and
special dietary needs in our family.
The
dining locations are usually already prepared to handle special diets, including diabetic friendly diets. A member of the culinary team can talk to you about menu items that are most appropriate for you, and they can walk you through a buffet to show you safe choices. In a lot of cases, meals can be altered to accommodate a diabetic diet.
One caution - there are no carb counts available prior to your visit. Make a list of the restaurants you want to try, and then check out the menus for those restaurants online. You can usually find an estimate of carb counts using the good old internet.
You'll have the option when making
dining reservations to indicate special dietary needs on your reservation, and again, when you check-in, you'll be asked if there are food allergies or special dietary needs. Go right ahead and let folks know!
You will find
first-aid stations in every park, so if something comes up that you feel needs medical attention, you're covered. There is also in-room medical treatment available at the Walt Disney World resorts. If you carry insulin, the Frio wallet can be a fantastic tool in a hot park!
Have a wonderful time, stay hydrated, and if you need us for anything else, come on back!
Anna
