Hi there, Sydney! We're so glad you stopped by planDisney with your question! It's hard to imagine that nearly 50 years have passed since Walt Disney World Resort opened up to great fanfare on October 1, 1971. It only seems fitting that
Cinderella Castle recently received a royal makeover with pink and sapphire touches and sparkling gold trim just in time for this highly anticipated "Golden Anniversary!"
I spoke to a couple of Cast Members at the Walt Disney Reservations Team today, and unfortunately, they cannot confirm when bookings will be available for next October (at this time, reservations can only be made through September 26, 2021). I recommend checking the
Know Before You Go page often for important updates. I also suggest bookmarking the
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels page on your computer; every few days, try inputting your intended travel dates to see if anything has changed. Sometime Disney will update their website before making an official announcement.
One thing the Cast Members did assure me of, though, is that the party will still go on! Whenever Disney celebrates a significant anniversary, it typically lasts for many months, even for a year or longer. We don't have all the details yet, but I'm very excited about all the
attractions and festivities planned for this special milestone. As I'm sure you're well aware, all construction projects slated for completion by 2021 were put on hold temporarily during the recent park closures. However, I'm feeling very optimistic that we'll see some pixie dust next yEAR, including the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster, currently being built behind Space Mountain. Although this is
Magic Kingdom Park's special time to shine,
EPCOT is undergoing some transformations as well. Here's hoping that Remy's Ratatouille Adventure will be welcoming guests soon!
I'm keeping my toes and fingers crossed that your family trip is magical, Sydney. If you have any more questions, remember,
you've got a friend in me!
