I'm lookiing to buy my 2nd Disney Watch; 1st one is a Skagen I bought on DCL years ago... I actually wear as a dress watch. Now I'm looking for something Mickey for everyday wear. Your thoughts on selection/bargains in WDW vs. on DCL? ($200 range)

I'm probably not the right person for this question, but I'll give it a shot. You should also re-submit it to Moms Panelist Karen, who is our Disney Cruise expert.

I am also a big fan of Mickey watches. I have several that I've gotten at WDW over the years ranging in price from $20.00 novelty items to $200.00 "real" watches. I have my eye on a $950 Mickey watch with diamond inlay that I've been visiting at the World of Disney store during my last several trips to WDW. If anyone wants to tell my hubby that this would make a great birthday present, I'd be much obliged. :-)

I'm sorry that I can't do the compare/contrast Cruise versus WDW shopping. I've only been on one Disney Cruise and that was more than five years ago. (I must fix this, I know.) However, I can tell you that the largest selections of watches at WDW would be at Uptown Jewelers on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, Mouse Gear in Epcot, and the World of Disney Store at Downtown Disney. I have also seen nice selections of watches on display in the gift shops at the Grand Floridian and Contemporary hotels. The pricing for each item is consistent throughout Walt Disney World. The same watch will be sold at the same price, no matter where you're shopping at WDW. However, the World of Disney Store often has discounts for customers in certain groups. For example, WDW annual passholders, DVC members, Disney Visa Card holders and others can usually get a discount of between 10 and 20% at the World of Disney, depending on which promotion they're running. I have also heard that some versions of the AAA card will get you a World of Disney discount. The moral of the story is that it always pays to ask.

Good luck with your shopping and have a great vacation.
