Hi Clara!
Thanks so much for visiting planDisney with your question - I'm happy to help!
I'm so excited to hear you're planning a solo visit to Walt Disney World Resort
this fall - that's awesome! Late September is typically a great time to visit, as schools are back in session and crowds tend to get a bit lighter. My main consideration when we travel in September is the weather, as it can get a bit toasty in August and September - nothing a good misting fan can't handle!
Individuals with autism can be eligible for the
Disability Access Service (DAS) pass when visiting Walt Disney World theme parks. The DAS is designed to assist guests who have difficulty waiting in a conventional queue environment due to a disability, including, but not limited to, those with autism. You'll be asked about the specific needs and challenges you may have, and Disney cast members will then determine how best to assist you. My family is fairly new to using DAS since my husband became disabled in 2021, and we have chosen Walt Disney World as a vacation destination time and time again because of their commitment to accessibility.
If you'd like to pre-register for DAS, you can do that up to 30 days in advance (and no less than two days before arrival) via live video chat. You'll be asked a few questions to determine DAS eligibility. Once you're approved and pre-registered, you'll be allowed to pre-book up to two
DAS Advance selections for each day of your visit (you'll need to know which parks you plan to visit each day to book the advance selections). Once you arrive, you'll have access to the DAS self-selection tool on the My Disney Experience Mobile App to book additional experiences and attractions.
When it comes to choosing a Disney Resort Hotel, that's like asking me to pick my favorite child - I love them all! Things to consider when making your decision:
- Budget - Walt Disney World offers a variety of resorts, ranging from value to deluxe categories, each with different price points.
- Proximity to theme parks
- Theming
- Amenities
- Transportation options
- Dining options
- Personal preferences - such as whether you prefer a quieter atmosphere or a more bustling, active one.
The best resort for one person may not be the best for another, so it ultimately depends on your individual preferences, needs, and budget. I encourage you to explore the
Disney Resorts Collection to see which accommodations are, as Mary Poppins would say, "practically perfect" for you!
I hope this information is helpful in your planning. Please let us know if we can help answer any other questions as you continue to build your magical vacation!
