Hi Vanessa, welcome home and welcome back to planDisney! A stay at
Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in the fall sure sounds lovely. Now let’s talk about accessibility accommodations to get you and your travel party prepared!
Based on some of your previous questions, it sounds like you may be a Disney Vacation Club Member. If that’s the case, I suggest taking a look at the DVC website to do a room search, making sure that “Accessible Rooms” is selected (you can also
call Member Services to conduct the search). This will show you a list of available wheelchair accessible rooms at the resort, which range from studios all the way up to 3-bedroom grand villas.
I just spoke to a Cast Member at the Resort and they reiterated that if you do need access to an elevator that it’s important to book a wheelchair accessible room to guarantee access. This is because rooms on the ground floor in some buildings require walking up a small set of stairs. She also recommended that if your travel dates can’t be changed and no accessible rooms are available to call the Resort (you can find the number on
the Resort's main page) to put in a request for elevator access, although be advised that such requests aren’t guaranteed.
Vanessa, you’ll be happy to know that the Resort does provide
other features or amenities to meet accessible needs. For example, the shuttle service to Disney’s Beach House is wheelchair accessible and you’ll also find beach wheelchairs on a first-come, first-served basis.
Vanessa, I hope this information is useful for you and wish you all the best on your upcoming trip. If you have any further questions about your upcoming Hilton Head trip or Disney vacation planning in general, please feel free to
contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
