I'm heading to disneyworld this May with my 6 & 3 yr old. I got the dining pass. I'm a planner, but am feeling overwhelmed with the dining reservations. Is a sit down character meal each day too much? i don't want to miss out on the parks. Thank you.

Hi, Jennifer!  It really can be overwhelming when you start planning a Walt Disney World vacation!  There are so many dining options, and you want to weigh them against everything else that's going on!

I have children close in age to yours.  In addition to my 17 year old, I also have an 8 year old and a 3 year old, and they all love character meals.  For our family, I know that a character dining experience is easily going to take one hour out of our day, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.  If it's hot outside, it's an hour where the kids can relax, cool off, and instead of waiting in line to see their favorite characters, they can sit and eat and have a cold drink while they wait for the characters to come to them.

Or if you do want to book a character meal every day, you might want to change it up and do a breakfast one day, before you head into the parks, or a later in the evening dinner, after you've already spent your day doing rides and shows.  We've done a 7:30 Chef Mickey's breakfast at the Contemporary, then taken the monorail into the Magic Kingdom for a 9 o'clock park opening.  It's not too hard to get the kids up and out, since it's the same time they'd be out for school anyway, and it takes no time out of our theme park day.

I hope you find a solution that's going to work for your family!
