Hi I'm a DVC member and we are going to WDW in March 2016 and staying at Animal Kingdom. We will be there for 7 days. Can you provide a few restaurant ideas to try (table service and good for a family 3 with a 9 yr old boy). Thanks.

    Hi Suzy!

My family’s home resort is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, and even after many stays there, it is still our favorite. I have three boys between the ages of 8 and 12 and a hubby with varying degrees of mealtime pickiness, but we always seem to find something everyone will like!

A great option for families is Sanaa. Located at Kidani Village, enjoy your African and Indian inspired meal while overlooking the Sunset Savanna. They are known for their delicious bread service, which is naan bread served with an assortment of dips. This is a great way to introduce kids to new flavors. I can almost smell their Butter Chicken now, my favorite entree!

At Jambo House, check out Boma - Flavors of Africa. This family-friendly location has elaborate decor designed to make you feel as if you are in an African marketplace, and offers an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet for both breakfast and dinner. We have enjoyed dinner at Boma on several occasions. From delicious soups, to curries and chutneys, there are so many flavors to experience. For those with more traditional tastes, there is an area with child friendly standbys such as pasta and nuggets. Be sure to try the Zebra Domes for dessert. These little morsels look like zebra striped bonbons, and are one of my favorite treats at Walt Disney World.

If you don’t venture to Boma, but still would like to try a Zebra Dome, head on over to The Mara. While this is a quick-service location, it has some wonderful options. Try the African Stew if you like curry, or the seasonal flatbread which is my go-to choice.

Be sure to bring your Disney Vacation Club Membership card and a Photo ID with you, as both Boma - Flavors of Africa and Sanaa currently offer a 10% discount for Disney Vacation Club Members! I hope you enjoy one or all of these great choices, Suzy.

Wishing you a delightful and delicious dining experience!
