Hi Lisette!
Welcome to planDisney! As a fellow Magic Key Holder, I know how exciting it is to share the magic of the Happiest Place on Earth with family visiting from Florida. You’re already off to a fantastic start by planning to use Lightning Lane to help make the most of your family’s visit!
There are two ways to access
Lightning Lanes at the Disneyland Resort. The first option is the
Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which allows you to schedule return times for select attractions in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. This option is available for purchase in advance, either when you buy your theme park tickets or as a separate add-on, or on the day of your visit via the
Disneyland app. However, as a Magic Key Holder, you can only purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass on the day of your visit, directly through the Disneyland app. No worries, though! You can link your family’s tickets to your MyDisney account in the app to make sure everyone’s return times are scheduled together.
The second option is the
Lightning Lane Premier Pass. This pass gives each Guest who purchases it one-time access to every available Lightning Lane attraction (including both Multi Pass and Single Pass attractions) in a theme park, with the flexibility to ride whenever you’d like. There is no need to schedule a return window in advance. The Premier Pass is available in limited quantities and can be purchased by all Guests, including Magic Key Holders, up to 7 days before your visit. Just like with Multi Pass, you’ll want to make sure your whole party’s tickets and park reservations are linked to your MyDisney account so you can purchase Premier Passes for everyone eligible.
If you decide to go with Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lisette, I’ve got a Q-Tip for you! You might be able to hold more than one Lightning Lane reservation at a time. Once you’ve made a reservation, you can’t book your next one until either:
You’ve used your current reservation, or
Two hours have passed since you made it.
For example, if you book a Matterhorn Bobsleds reservation at 9:00 a.m. for 4:00 p.m., you can still grab a Haunted Mansion reservation at 11:00 a.m. without losing your Matterhorn return time. To keep myself on track, I like to set alarms on my phone or smartwatch to remind me when it’s time to grab my next reservation. That way, I never miss my chance to hop aboard my favorite attractions!
No matter which Lightning Lane option works best for your crew, Lisette, I’m confident you and your family are in for an unforgettable Disneyland adventure. If you have any other questions as you prepare for your family’s trip, please stop by planDisney again. We’re always happy to help!
Wishing you a magical visit!
