Hi, I'm going to Disney in Dec. for 7 days with my elderly inlaws.I highly recommend them renting an ECV but they are hesitant. Are they easy to handle? What is the cost? What about my pride? I think that it could make or break our vacation. They are 81,82

    Bill,

I completely agree with your recommendation. They will not regret it. Unless they are in peak physical condition, they are likely to be exhausted by the large amount of walking done on a Disney vacation. I often wear a pedometer and it's not at all unusual for my family to walk 10 miles per day while in Disney.

A few years ago we traveled with my husband's family, including a couple of elderly relatives who were not used to walking. They, too, were hesitant, and once we were there and afterward have thanked me numerous times for insisting that they rent the ECVs. His uncle said that "there was no way I could have made that trip without it."

You will find the best prices on ECV rentals by booking with an independent company, rather than renting from Disney. This also means that they will have use of the vehicle outside the parks, which is very nice.

We rented from Walker Mobility, but there are lots of choices in the area, and each delivers the ECV to your resort so it will be waiting for you  upon arrival. Just do an internet search for 'Orlando ECV rental' and you will be able to compare prices. I saw one company advertising $150 for 7 days, but there may be a better price out there.

Hope that helps, and good luck!
