Ahoy, Katie!
Welcome to planDisney! You know what makes the best Monday? An embarkation day on a Monday! That's what you'll get to experience next week when you board the
Disney Destiny in
Fort Lauderdale. I love the itinerary you selected because you'll have ample time to enjoy the newest Disney ship with two sea days. With so much to explore on this vessel, your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app will be invaluable. Just scroll through once you're checked in at the port and start favoriting all your must-dos once you board. A few of my favorites are
Disney Hercules,
Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King, and
De Vil's Piano Lounge. You'll also want to heart anything with the ship's storytellers, Zayah and Gamble!
Katie, as of today, there is no official 5K on
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. As popular as the Castaway Cay 5K is, I do hope it's coming soon to Disney's newest island destination. I recommend stopping by Guest Services on Deck 4, Midship, when you don't see a line to ask if they have any updated information. You can also stop by Guest Services on the island, located at the Goombay Cultural Center tram stop. I was just there in November and did see some runners out, so while nothing is official, I do suggest you inquire. If this is your first time on the island, I recommend some fun character photo ops with the Bahamian-inspired backdrops and the Junkanoo looks worn by Mickey and the gang. They are outfits you'll only see on this island. Also, be sure to catch RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration, a lively parade with some familiar faces. The music is so catchy!
Thank you for sending in your question, Katie. As you finish your to-do list for next week, be sure to check the
Disney Cruise Line packing list so you'll have everything you'll need once aboard.
Safe travels,
Nancy
