Katie!
I am SO happy you come by.
I am a Type-A planner, but sometimes I like to let my hair down and take the kids on a last-minute trip to Walt Disney World Resort. I also have to tell you that these spur-of-the-moment trips were some of our best memories. Just last December I booked a trip in about 3 weeks and we had the time of our lives!
Okay, enough about me, let's get to planning your perfect Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
So the first thing that you will want to decide is where to stay. With kids your age, I would recommend staying at a Walt Disney World Resort with quick and easy transportation to the theme parks. This puts
Disney's Pop Century Resort or
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort at the top of my list since you will have access to the
Disney Skyliner.
If you are looking for a splurge, I would recommend that you stay either at
Disney's Yacht Club Resort or
Disney's Contemporary Resort. Both resorts offer a walking path to at least one theme park, allowing you to throw the kids in the stroller and get moving in the morning.
Katie, next you will need to purchase your theme park tickets and make your
Disney Park Pass system reservation. For a shorter trip, or with kids your age, I would say that you don't need to add the park hopper option to your tickets since there is so much to see and do in each park. Disney Park Pass system reservations are limited, so I would recommend doing this as soon as possible! Reservations are also updated in real-time, so if a specific park that you want to visit is not available, keep checking! You can check your availability before you purchase your tickets with the handy-dandy
availability calendar.
If you are interested in having any table service meals, I would recommend that you start looking for those reservations now. Reservations are also updated in real-time, so you will find more availability as your trip gets closer. You can also take advantage of the new walk-up waitlist feature in the
My Disney Experience Mobile App.
Lastly, be sure that you brush up on all of the
experience updates going on at Walt Disney World Resort including temperature screening, face covering requirements for anyone over the age of 2, and contactless payment.
I hope that this helped, Katie. Now all you have left to do is to get packing and come back here to planDisney if we can help answer any other questions for you.
We will see you REAL soon!
