Hi Ariel!
Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend is one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World. We plan a girls trip to enjoy it every year. I don't even run but being a spectator can be just a fun. The crowds are a bit heavier than a normal busy weekend at Disney World but they are still managable. The main thing to be aware of is that traffic will be diverted and roads will be closed in the mornings. The trick is to make sure you stay on property and use
Disney transportation, specifically the monorail, water transportation, or Disney Skyliner as these options will not be affected by road closures in the morning.
One trick we utilize is making sure to get to the parks early on race days. Most of the racers finish their race, and go back to change or shower before going to the parks for the day. This makes mornings much less busy and you can get in a shorter queue for rides like Big Thunder Mountain or Space Mountain before the runners make it to Magic Kingdom. I also highly recommend using
My Disney Experience to make dining reservations ahead of time as walk-in dining is particularly busy during runDisney weekends.
Overall, it is a blast but you will need to make sure to check road closures, park open times, and any changes that will happen at the parks as a result of the event. The
event guide will update closer to race weekend and will give you all the info you need to either join or avoid the runDisney fun!
I hope you have a blast!
