Hi Philip,
Mickey's Not-so-Scary Halloween Party is always a highlight for my family during the month of October. This event is a fabulous way to celebrate the spookiness and playfulness of the season. We also love donning our favorite costumes but like to remember that this is a family-friendly environment so we tend to keep it lighter than what we may wear at home or to another Halloween party.
For adults over the age of 14, there are
specific guidelines that need to be followed if you plan to wear a costume to this event. A few highlights of this policy are that costumes must be family-friendly, cannot contain costume weapons that could be easily mistaken for real weapons, and must not touch the ground for safety reasons. Costume masks of any kind are also not to worn along with full-length capes.
To answer your specific questions, we can dig a little deeper. There is no specific guidance for headgear but I would imagine if what you describe is similar to Mickey Ears that are worn at Disney World then it should not be an issue. If the accessory is large or sharp, that could be something that would trigger a cast member to have safety concerns and ask you to remove it. Non-Disney characters are welcome as long as the costume is family-friendly. If you do decide to dress as a Disney character please do not pose for pictures with other guests. Face paint is not specifically prohibited and I have seen guests wearing face paint in the past to this event. Keep in mind that the cast members have the ultimate say on whether or not a costume can be worn into the theme parks so if you are on the fence, it is better to go with a safer outfit so you don't have to waste time going back to your room to change.
Don't forget to also check out the
EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival while you are visiting Disney World. It is an epic food adventure all over the world with fabulous food booths and drinks located throughout EPCOT. It is well worth a day of exploration!
Happy Planning,
Jenna
