Hi April and welcome to planDisney! It looks like you have a wonderful visit in store at the end of 2026, which is a magical time of year to visit! I recently stayed at
Disney’s Old Key West Resort in December, and it was just the right place to drop anchor and settle into vacation mode. Let’s take a look at the options for your room requests to make sure you have the perfect spot to unwind and soak in those laid-back island vibes!
Based upon your question, it sounds like you are considering a studio near the Hospitality House. This is an excellent choice! Old Key West is a large resort, so being close is going to give you the convenience you will truly appreciate. When you check in for your reservation through
My Disney Experience, you will have the option to make a couple of room requests. The first request you’ll want to choose is for a ground floor. Given the mobility needs of your group, I also recommend calling to
speak directly with a Cast Member to ask them to make a note on your reservation that your ground floor request is due to a health condition.
Since you hope to have those beautiful lake views, I’m going to recommend that your second request be for a room in the Peninsular Road area. The rooms designated as near the Hospitality House are generally buildings 11-14 and 23-26. Buildings 23-26 are in that Peninsular Road area and will give you the best chance for a lake view. April, it is important to note, however, that requests are not guaranteed. The Cast Members will do their best to fulfill them, but it is not always possible.
While you’re at Old Key West, be sure to save some time for a ride on a ferry boat along the Sassagoula River to
Disney Springs! One of the great perks about being at Old Key West is the convenience to shopping and dining, and the boats are one of my favorite modes of transportation at the Walt Disney World Resort!
April, I hope your stay at Old Key West is smooth sailing, and it is sure to be unforgettable! If you have any more questions, be sure to
send them my way. I would love to help you continue to plan a vacation that is as magical as a Key West sunset!
Warm island wishes,
Casey
