Jambo, Andrew!
Welcome to planDisney! We're so glad you journeyed over with your question, and I'm thrilled to hear you'll be visiting
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park in just a few short days. I've actually found myself spending more and more time in this gorgeous park in recent years, and I know my logged hours will only continue to increase as the
Tropical Americas-themed expansion is completed. Let's make sure your planning gear is packed and ready for your upcoming safari!
In my experience, a Multiple Experiences Pass is issued in the
My Disney Experience app when a
Lightning Lane attraction is unavailable during my planned arrival window. This can happen because of a temporary ride closure due to weather or mechanical issues, or other unforeseen circumstances. These passes will be issued directly to your app with instructions for redemption. Guests can use them at the original attraction (assuming it reopens that day) or a select number of other attractions, with specifics varying based on the originally scheduled attraction.
As I'm sure you know, you can only experience an attraction via the Lightning Lane entrance once per day, with the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass. However, the rules for Multiple Experience Passes are a little different. I spoke with a friendly Cast Member via the online chat who confirmed that you can redeem a Multiple Experience Pass at the originally scheduled attraction, and still book a Lightning Lane entry there (subject to availability) on the same day.
For example, let's say you selected
Expedition Everest as one of your initial 3 attractions, but it's unavailable during your arrival window. You can redeem your Multiple Experience Pass there when it reopens, and schedule a new Lightning Lane return window for Everest if you find one available that day. You can also ride via the standby line as many times as you like, as well.
Keep in mind that redemption policies may vary if you've already entered the attraction queue via the Lightning Lane entrance and the ride goes down before you get a chance to ride. While you can still return with your Multiple Experience Pass that day, the My Disney Experience app may prevent you from booking an additional Lightning Lane entry at the same attraction (since you had already scanned in). Double check with a Guest Experience Team Cast Member should you experience any issues during your visit, and they'll be able to guide you.
One last perk I'd like to mention is that you can redeem a Multiple Experience Pass at any time throughout the remainder of your day in the park, while still booking and redeeming new Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections. I usually like to save any passes I receive for when wait times start to tick up, but the decision is totally up to you!
Andrew, I hope this information helps you have a wild day at Animal Kingdom. If we can answer any additional questions, please trek back and let us know.
Magic and memories,
Amy
