Greetings, Barry, and welcome to planDisney! Your magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth is just around the corner – can you already smell the churros and hear the Disneyland Band performing? Let's talk about attractions and entertainment!
The
Hours & Events Calendar is a great resource to use ahead of any Disneyland Resort trip. There, you'll find information about attraction refurbishments (in the "Day View"), entertainment schedules, park hours, and more. Details are subject to change, but it currently looks like Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island will be closed for refurbishment on May 5 when you visit Disneyland Park. And when you visit California Adventure the next day, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind and Silly Symphony Swings will be closed for refurbishment.
Just keep in mind, Barry, that attractions may temporarily close for unscheduled reasons, too. If that happens, check the
Disneyland mobile app to see if an attraction has reopened. Tap the checkpoint icon at the bottom of the screen to see a map with all the attractions. If the wait time is replaced by a star, it could indicate that it is closed (but will hopefully reopen soon)!
According to the
Hours & Events Calendar, Disneyland Park will not have fireworks on May 5 or 6. However, you'll still be able to see
Wondrous Journeys with projections. My favorite place to watch the show is near "it's a small world." Make sure to see
Paint the Night – it's one of my favorite nighttime shows at the Resort, with dazzling lights, an energetic soundtrack, and amazing floats. You'll be able to watch
World of Color Happiness! to close out your day in California Adventure. You can even
join the virtual queue to get a great viewing spot!
You planned your days well, since it looks like Disneyland Park will close early on May 6 for
Star Wars Nite. You'll be in California Adventure that day, so you won't need to worry about losing any time in the park due to the special event.
Make sure you have the
Disneyland mobile app downloaded and ready to use during your visit. You'll be able to keep an eye on attraction wait times, browse menus, place mobile food orders, and use the map to find your way around.
