I'll be at Disney 12/21-12/26. I have dining reservations at 50's Prime Time Cafe, Teppan Edo, 'Ohana, and Liberty Tree Tavern. My brother is a vegetarian, and I want to make sure he has good meals. Should I call the restaurants ahead to let them know?

Hi Madelyn! I've been a vegetarian for much of my adult life and I think Walt Disney World is one of the easiest places for vegetarians to dine. The restaurants are very accommodating of special dietary requirements and are prepared for vegetarians so there's no need to contact them in advance of your meal, although you can note on your reservation that you have a vegetarian in your party if you want.

Each restaurant has at least one vegetarian option on the menu, and often there is more than one. You can view the menus on the Disney website or on the Dining Pages of unofficial sites like allears.net to preview the vegetarian options.  If the vegetarian choices on the menu don't appeal to your brother, he should ask the server if other options are available, or if they can prepare a certain dish for him. Some restaurants have additional vegetarian menus available upon request. For instance, while 'Ohana is a meat-lover's paradise, vegetarians can have a great meal there too. Just tell the server that your brother is vegetarian and they will bring him those options. The last time I dined at 'Ohana I received a delicious hummus appetizer and vegetable and tofu stir-fry over rice, in addition to the vegetables and dessert that everyone at the table receives.

Wishing you a magical vacation! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
