    II am planning on going to AK on 8/23/13 for the day. I have 8:00 SOA res at my resort, polynesian. I was thinking of changing DR to 5:15 For SOA. Can I do the day at AK and make 5:15 SOA using Disney buses? Do you think I should keep my 8:00 res?

    Hi Shannon! How exciting that your Walt Disney World vacation is almost here!

    Disney's Animal Kingdom park is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the date you're visiting. If you arrive at the park at opening, I think you'd definitely have time to experience most of the park before heading back to the Polynesian for an early Spirit of Aloha reservation. Plan to experience the most popular attractions, like the Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition Everest, first thing in the morning, so you won't spend a lot of time waiting in line.

    The bus ride from Animal Kingdom to the Polynesian takes about 30 minutes, but you may have to wait 15 minutes or so for a bus to arrive. I'd plan to leave the park no later than 4:15 p.m. to get to a 5:15 reservation. My family gets to the parks at opening and we don't spend a lot of time wandering the animal viewing trails at Animal Kingdom, so we usually finish our visit to this park by early afternoon. Since we get up early at Disney, we generally don't want to wait until later in the evening to have dinner, so for us, the 5:15 reservation would work better. If your family is like us, you may want to move to the earlier Spirit of Aloha seating. If, however, you like to sleep in, or if you don't want to leave the park before closing, or you want to have time to freshen up and relax in your room before dinner, then you may want to keep your 8:00 reservation.
