Hi Ben, and welcome to planDisney! Running through all four theme parks during the
Walt Disney World Marathon is one of my most cherished core memories. Every mile is truly magic here! Now, let’s figure out how to get you in the race.
The good news is that bibs do sometimes become available again, but it’s usually a small amount and they disappear faster than Dash Parr running away from Syndrome! While
runDisney doesn’t have notifications when a race opens again, there are unofficial fan-created alerts that will ping you when bibs become available. Search “runDisney alerts” in a search engine to find them. And be sure to turn your phone’s notifications on so you don’t miss anything!
Another option would be to team up with one of the official runDisney charities. It’s a great way to raise money for a good cause while gaining entry into the race! Check the runDisney website for a
list of charities participating in the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. While many have already filled their charity spots, there are several participating organizations and you might be able to find one with openings on their team. The requirements are different for each charity, but typically there’s a minimum fundraising commitment.
If you love running, the next time you’re at Disney World definitely check out the many
jogging trails. Some of my favorite routes are running through the different areas at
Art of Animation Resort (with larger-than-life characters from Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid), around the campsite loops at
Fort Wilderness Resort (where guests set up fun Disney decorations), and along Seven Seas Lagoon between the
Grand Floridian and the
Polynesian (complete with a view of Cinderella Castle!).
I’m wishing on a star that you’re able to get a spot in the Walt Disney World Marathon next year! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to visit us again at planDisney. I could talk about runDisney races all day!
