Hello there! I'd like to register myself and my 9 year old for the Dark Side 5k. Does he have to match a certain pace in order to qualify for a medal, or will he get one as long as he finishes in a reasonable amount of time? Many thanks! Alisha

    Hi Alisha!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You and your kiddo are going to have a blast dashing your way to the finish line during the Star Wars 5K!

There is a pacing requirement set by runDisney for the 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon races of 16 minutes per mile. This is measured from the time the last participant crosses the starting line. For the 5K race distance, runDisney really encourages getting the entire family involved so there is not a pacing requirement nor will the race be timed. While I wouldn't recommend taking over an hour to walk each mile, I think you'll find you have plenty of time to finish the 5K and even stop for some awesome character photos along the way. So your little Jedi doesn't need to sweat it and worry about completing the race in a designated time, he'll be able to collect his medal at the finish!

Please let me know if you have any other questions and May the Force be with you on the course!
