I'd love some advice on how/when to try to shedule dining reservations for "sold out" restaurants. Do I need to call every day prior to my arrival date and then keep trying once I arrive, or do you have better advice since it is a toll call.

Unfortunately, if a restaurant is fully booked, really the only way to get in is by being persistent -- and that means making a lot of phone calls. People do cancel reservations all the time, but since there's no way to know when this will happen, you have to keep trying to put yourself in the right place at the right time. Even if you are not able to secure a reservation in advance, you could keep trying to call while you are on vacation. You could even try to walk up on the day you want to dine and see if they have had any same-day cancelations. You can't count on this, but I do know of many people who got lucky and were able to walk up and get seated even at difficult-to-come-by meals such as Cinderella's Royal Table, Le Cellier, and the Hoop Dee Doo Revue.

    Good luck with your quest!
