Hello! I'd like to know more about the Kennel Club, I am planning on taking my dog with me on this trip and I will need to leave him in the Kennel Club. Where is it located in the resort? I can't find it in the map sorry! How much does it cost?

Hello there, and welcome to planDisney!

As a fellow dog owner and a veterinarian, I really vibed with your question because I know how difficult it is to find good care for our furry friends when we go on vacation. It's so important for us to also know that they are being looked after in the best way possible. Let me try and offer some options for you.

I'm afraid I have to start with the bad news up front. The Disneyland Kennel Club closed down when the Resort closed for the pandemic in 2020 and did not re-open with the rest of the Resort. There have been no announcements about what is being considered for this space, so at this point we don't know when or even if it will ever re-open.

You have a couple of options available to you, though. There are a number of Good Neighbor Hotels that are labeled as Pet Friendly. They will allow you to leave your companion in a nicely air conditioned room while you enjoy a day at the Parks. Alternatively, you could perform an Internet search for local boarding facilities that will board your pet for you while you are in the Parks. I don't have any specific recommendations for you, but sometimes, vet hospitals are the best resource for pet owners new to the area and you could ask around about who they'd recommend.

I'm sorry that this was the most ideal news I could have presented to you and I wish you the best as you consider your options. But I always think it's a fun thing to include your little companion in your vacation because there are so many cute items meant for pets that they're hard to resist! I feed my dog out of a bowl and mat that say "Feed Me, Foolish Mortal!" And did you know that you can commission a portrait of your dog from the caricature artist outside the exit to Pirates of the Caribbean? Just bring them multiple cell phone photos of your friend from different angles and they'll do the rest!

I know you don't have much longer to plan, but I hope you found this information helpful and can figure out what to do soon! If you need anything else from us, please feel free to return again anytime. You're always welcome at planDisney!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
