Welcome to planDisney, Laura! And congratulations on becoming a
Magic Key holder. As a fellow Key holder myself, I can tell you there’s something extra exciting about that very first visit using your pass. I’m happy to help you get ready for the moment you tap in and officially begin your Magic Key adventures.
When you use your Magic Key for the first time, Guests ages 18 and older are typically asked to present a valid government-issued photo ID to activate the pass. This is usually a driver’s license, state ID, or passport. Cast Members may also occasionally ask to see a photo ID when you’re using Magic Key holder discounts or benefits around the resort.
The key factor is the photo ID requirement. If your temporary or paper ID does not include a photo, it may not be accepted on its own for that first-time verification. If you are unsure if your exact documentation meets the criteria, you may want to contact the
Magic Key holder support line before your visit. A Cast Member there can review your specific situation and let you know if the documents you have will work or if bringing an additional form of identification would be helpful. That quick check can help ensure everything goes smoothly when you arrive at the entrance gates.
Once your pass is activated, you’ll also want to keep your ID handy during future visits in case it’s requested when using your
Magic Key holder discounts throughout the resort.
Since your trip is coming up soon, you may also find yourself visiting during the
Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. It’s a wonderful time to explore
Disney California Adventure Park, with
marketplace booths highlighting flavors inspired by the Golden State and the limited-time return of
Soarin’ Over California. Q-Tip from one fan to another: keep an eye (and nose) out during Soarin’ for those familiar California scents that make this version of the attraction such a nostalgic favorite.
As a Magic Key holder, be sure to explore the Magic Key portal in the
Disneyland app before and during your visit. It’s the easiest way to stay up to date on current holder-exclusive perks, seasonal offerings, and special experiences. During events like the Food & Wine Festival, Magic Key holders have access to unique extras, such as a specially priced
Sip and Savor Pass with a commemorative lanyard. Those little touches can make each visit feel like a celebration of being part of the Magic Key community.
Laura, I hope this helps as you prepare for your first visit as a Key holder. If any other questions pop up along the way, we’d love to see you back here at planDisney.
Have a fantastic first visit filled with delicious bites, and soaring views!
David
