Greetings, Molly, and welcome to planDisney! I love that you secured a Blue Bayou reservation for this weekend's special birthday visit. It's almost time to celebrate! Let's talk about desserts.
Molly, I don't currently see a way to easily add a
Mickey Mouse celebration cake to an existing dining reservation. You can try modifying your reservation in the
Disneyland mobile app, but that may not help. When I tried doing this to one of my existing reservations, I didn't see an option to add the cake. Moreover, it can be difficult to modify a reservation for a restaurant as in-demand as
Blue Bayou. Available time slots can be hard to come by.
But no fear – you still have an option! Participating restaurants have a limited quantity of celebration cakes available for same-day orders. When you check in at the restaurant, let the host know you'd like to order a
Mickey Mouse celebration cake with your meal. I can't guarantee they will have one available, but it's worth asking! If all else fails, they have some great desserts
on the menu – the Crème Brûlée Tart is one of my favorite indulgences at the park.
Check-in is also when you'd request a waterfront table. This is subject to availability, but the Cast Members do their best to accommodate requests. You may just need to wait a little bit longer to be seated. Also, please note that it may be more difficult if you have a large party.
Your party should be present when you check in at the restaurant. Perhaps you can ask them to wait on the other side of the walkway while you talk with the host, to keep these surprises hidden.
Here are a few more ways to make this birthday visit extra special, Molly:
- Pick up a complimentary birthday button at the start of the day. Many retail locations and City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. have them.
- Get the Strawberry Shortcake Macaron from Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe – it's really festive and comes topped with an edible decorative candle!
- There are a handful of attractions that have a birthday cake decoration somewhere in the ride. Alice in Wonderland, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and the Haunted Mansion come to mind. Ride these and see if you can spot the cake!
Of course, it would also be really fun to ride Pirates of the Caribbean after dining at Blue Bayou. You'd have a different vantage point after observing the ride from the restaurant.
Molly, I hope you have a fantastic time visiting the Disneyland Resort this weekend. If you think of any other questions before then, please reach out – we're always happy to help here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Kriss
