I'm coming in Apr/May for my 50th birthday. I'll be able to start making dining reservations in just under a month. My friend may or may not be able to come. Should I include her in the reservations or would I be able to add her last minute?

Hey there, Julie. Thanks for coming back to visit us at planDisney. We're honored and so glad you stopped by to share this question with us. It's been a long time in the making, but your birthday visit to the Disneyland Resort will soon be here!

It just delights me to hear that you are getting ready to make some advance dining reservations for your special visit. When it comes to a possible extra person, I usually like to account for them in my dining reservation ahead of time. For most dining reservations, when you arrive for your reservation and check-in through the Disneyland app, you will be given the option to remove this person from your party count. I chatted with a Cast Member over the phone who shared that you won't be charged when adjusting your party down. Now, if we're talking about an experience where payment is required at the time of booking, like the World of Color Dessert Party, you are subject to the cancelation policy of that particular experience where there may be a cancelation fee.

To make your celebration extra special, you may want to consider adding a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake to your special meal. These adorable (and delicious) cakes are available at select restaurants at both theme parks and are best ordered at least three days prior to your reservation.

Julie, I hope this has been helpful as you prepare to make your dining reservations for your visit. It won't be much longer until you will be walking down Main Street, U.S.A. with Sleeping Beauty Castle in the distance. I'm so excited for you. Wishing you the most magical birthday at the Happiest Place on Earth!
